Science creates value for Art

The Whole Picture

The whole Picture is a scientific research project focused on imaging applied to the study of works of art (paintings).

TWP develops tools to help experts refine their diagnoses of attribution, augment their knowledge of works of art, and confirm authorship. It explores fields at the crossroads of new technologies and art history with historians, experts, restorers, specialized laboratories and universities. This work could be the object of publications.

Lumière Technology, a company specialized in the multispectral digitization of works of art, was acquired by TWP in 2018. Its digitization activities continue under the ASA (Art Spectral Analysis) brands and (new) Lumière Technology.

In partnership with École Normale Supérieure, located on Ulm Street, TWP has developed a neural Artificial Intelligence algorithm. This algorithm, M’sH (Master’s Hand) reads, analyzes and sorts the voluminous multispectral data captured in very high definition (240 Million Pixel). This tool allows experts to confirm their attribution hypotheses at an until-now-unparalleled level of confidence.

TWP aims at creating a strong bond between the piece of art and the digitized version. Thus enabling secure tokenization via NFT. This initiative (CERTO) is part of the revolution that digital technology breakthroughs associated with Artificial Intelligence are causing in the art market.

Digitizing the Intimate :

The Possibilities of Multispectral Analysis

The multiple techniques for attributing works of art, whether done with the naked eye or using X-rays or infrared, rely on the same premise: an artist, in a given period (tied to a coherent selection of works), does not depart from a given number of habits such as his artistic gesture, composition, or in the choice of materials used. Multispectral analysis is based on this same principle and pushes it even further…
